Ms Cheng Ling Lim
Cheng Ling is a research associate at the Centre for International Law (CIL), National University of Singapore.
She developed an interest in environmental law and policy while obtaining her B.Sc. in Environmental Biology (with Hons.). Her work on the impact of political shifts on deforestation in Myanmar, as part of her thesis, was subsequently published. While pursuing her M.Sc. in Biological Research, Cheng Ling worked on understanding and illustrating the process of land acquisitions in Southeast Asia, from its drivers, policies, and mechanisms, to its impacts.
Cheng Ling joined the Ocean Law and Policy team in CIL to support the development of a regional knowledge organisation system for marine environmental data (KOSMESEA). Under the training and guidance by Ms Youna Lyons, Cheng Ling is currently involved in multiple research projects at the interface of marine science and ocean law and policy, with both a global and regional focus. Her focus areas are marine environmental databases and portals, marine aquaculture, pollution from marine plastics as well as the development of regional research networks.
