Railla Puno at 2024 UNFCCC Climate Change Conference


Railla Puno of the Climate Change Law and Policy Programme at the Centre for International Law attended the 2024 UNFCCC Bonn Climate Change Conference as a delegate of the National University of Singapore on 10-13 June 2024. The Conference hosted the 60th Sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA). Draft decisions were negotiated by Parties in preparation for the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan in November 2024.

The 4th Ocean and Climate Change Dialogue, a mandated event under the SBSTA, was also held during these days. Railla participated in the breakout group discussions moderated by Joanna Post of IOC-UNESCO and Valentina Germani of UN-DOALOS, bringing forward CIL positions on the priority topics identified by Parties and observers: 1) Marine biodiversity conversation and coastal resilience and 2) Technology needs for the ocean – climate action, including finance links.
