Daniel Pakpahan served as judge in the advanced rounds of the 2025 Jessup Indonesia
Daniel Pakpahan was invited to judge the Indonesian qualifying rounds of the 2025 Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition held in Universitas Indonesia on 15 February 2025. Daniel sat as a judge in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and third place round. He also handed out awards for the best oralists/advocates of the competition at the awards gala.
The top four teams from Indonesia will compete in the Jessup Global Rounds in Washington DC, USA on 29 March - 5 April 2025. This year, Universitas Pelita Harapan emerged as the Indonesian national champion.
The Jessup is the world's largest moot court competition, with more than 3,500 law students hailing from nearly 100 countries participating each year. The 2025 case raises issues related to limitations on the contentious jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice, the prosecution of foreign state officials for the crime of enforced disappearance through universal jurisdiction, the impact of sea-level rise on states' maritime zones and sovereign rights, and the recognition of unconstitutional governments under international law.
