Professor Ezéchiel Amani – CIL Visiting Scholar – March 2025

The Centre for International Law was pleased to host Professor Ezéchiel Amani Cirimwami from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), who visited CIL from 11 to 16 March 2025. During his time at the Centre, Professor Amani gave a presentation to CIL Researchers entitled “Procedural Battles in the DRC v. Rwanda Case: Navigating Key Legal Challenges at the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights”.

Dr Ezéchiel Amani Cirimwami is currently a Professor of International Law at VUB and serves in a visiting capacity at UCLouvain and the Royal Military Academy of Belgium. Previously, Professor Amani held the position of Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Procedural Law in Luxembourg, where he also contributed as an associate editor to the Max Planck Encyclopedia of International Procedural Law.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Prof. Amani plays a significant role as counsel in numerous cases before prestigious international courts and tribunals, including the International Court of Justice, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights, and the East African Court of Justice.
