Ahead of the ASEAN Summit this week, CIL ASEAN Law and Policy Co-Head, Associate Professor Tan Hsien-Li has a new blog post with NYU’s US-Asia Law Institute’s Perspectives – “Doubling Down on Rules-Based Trade: A Strategic Imperative for ASEAN”. Despite the US’ withdrawal from multilateralism, ASEAN has a vital opportunity (alongside other smaller powers) to shape the new rules-based economic order that is emerging. Rules-based Integration, Dismantling NTBs, and Private Sector Engagement are absolutely necessary.
