Additional Information

Brunei Darussalam acceded to this Agreement pursuant to the 1984 Declaration of the Admission of Brunei Darussalam into ASEAN.

The text reproduced in the unofficial CIL document follows that given in the print edition of ASEAN Documents Series 1967-1985, published by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in 1985.

Ratification information for this instrument is not available on the current ASEAN Secretariat Legal Instruments website. Details above are taken from the last published information on this instrument. As there is no record of ratification by the fifth signatory state (Malaysia), it is likely that this instrument never entered into force. It was nonetheless indicated in the 1987 Revised Basic Agreement on ASEAN Industrial Joint Ventures, that the 1983 Agreement would be superseded upon entry into force by the former.

Note that the 1983 Supplementary Agreement to Amend the Basic Agreement on ASEAN Industrial Joint Ventures was signed on the same day as this instrument, amending its text.
