Refer to Article 17 of the 1960 Convention on Third Party Liability in the Field of Nuclear Energy as amended by the Additional Protocol of 1964 and by the Protocol of 1982: “Any dispute arising between two or more Contracting Parties concerning the interpretation or application of the Convention shall be examined by the Steering Committee and in the absence of friendly settlement shall, upon the request of a Contracting Party concerned, be submitted to the Tribunal established by the Convention of 20th December 1957 on the Establishment of a Security Control in the Field of Nuclear Energy.” |

Part II, paragraph (b) and (e) of Protocol: “(b) This Protocol shall be ratified or confirmed. Instruments of ratification of this Protocol shall be deposited with the Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Where there is a confirmation of this Protocol, it shall be notified to him… … (e) This Protocol shall come into force in accordance with the provisions of Article 20 of the Convention.” Article 20 of the 1960 Convention on Third Party Liability in the Field of Nuclear Energy: “Amendments to this Convention shall be adopted by mutual agreement of all the Contracting Parties. They shall come into force when ratified or confirmed by two-thirds of the Contracting Parties. For each Contracting Party ratifying or confirming thereafter, they shall come into force at the date of such ratification or confirmation.” |
