The Security Council adopted resolution 2572 (2021) unanimously on 22 April 2021, extending the mandate of the 1540 Committee until 28 February 2022. The Council decided that the Committee shall continue to conduct and complete the comprehensive review on the status of implementation of resolution 1540 (2004) and submit a report on its conclusions. The review had been postponed due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. As the review remained incomplete, the mandate was extended again through resolution 2622 (2022) until 30 November 2022, after which the comprehensive review was concluded and resolution 2663 (2022) extended the mandate for a further ten years to November 2032. |
