The TRILA Philippines Report comprehensively presents the significant outcomes of the Philippine edition of TRILA, which was held online from 1 to 3 July 2021 in collaboration with the Philippine Association of Law Schools, and Philippine Society of International Law. These outcomes include, inter alia, the lectures, responses, and discussions on the following topics:

  • Teaching international law from a Filipino perspective
  • Teaching Public International Law through problem-solving approach
  • Teaching the history of international law from Asian perspective, and using the Filipinos’ own history and experiences
  • The 2020 TRILA Report findings, and formulating a course syllabus
  • Teaching Law of the Sea with a special focus on the Philippines and Southeast Asia
  • Introduction to research methodology and scholarship
  • Developing one’s scholarly voice
  • Writing Philippine topics within the framework of international law and writing on international law in general
  • ‘Philippine Treaties in Force 2020’
  • Filling-in the gaps in the teaching of international law in the Philippines through graduate education

The Report also summarizes the presentations of the Filipino junior scholars, and key takeaways from the advice given by the senior scholars.

The final section of the Report lays down the participants’ suggestions on the way forward following this very enriching conference.
