PRE-EVENT DETAILS
This seminar builds upon the success of CIL’s 2022 SC Week partner event addressing “Conciliation and Mediation Provisions in Investor-State Dispute Settlement Provisions”. This year’s event will take the discussion forward by providing delegates with a practical and up-to-the-minute examination of the role that the Singapore Convention can play in resolving investor-state disputes by looking at (a) the applicability of the Singapore Convention to investor-state disputes; (b) treaty-making trends regarding the inclusion of mediation provisions in investment treaties; (c) the current state of play of the reform of institutional rules on mediation and conciliation of investor-state disputes (e.g., UNCITRAL and ICSID); and (d) practical challenges for investors and states to use mediation as an effective dispute resolution tool.
