17 February 2021: Research Associate Nivedita S Participates in IAEA Webinar on ‘Experiences of Member States in Building Regulatory Framework for the Oversight of Nuclear Power Plants’’

Research Associate Nivedita S participated in the International Atomic Energy Agency’s webinar on ‘Experiences of Member States in Building Regulatory Framework for the Oversight of Nuclear Power Plants’ on 17 February 2021. This webinar introduced an upcoming IAEA publication on ‘Experiences of Member States in Building Regulatory Framework for the Oversight of New Nuclear Power Plants: Country Case Studies’. A working draft of the publication is available here.

The webinar discussed the experiences of the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Pakistan in developing and implementing national regulatory frameworks for their nuclear power programmes. The webinar also highlighted how these frameworks evolved throughout the different phases of the IAEA Milestones Approach. The experiences of these countries provide insights for other countries initiating or expanding an existing nuclear power programme. IAEA support for these countries was also highlighted.
