Charalampos Giannakopoulos attended the 14th Gulf Research Meeting

On 9–12 July 2024, CIL Senior Research Fellow Charalampos Giannakopoulos attended the 14th Gulf Research Meeting, an annual interdisciplinary conference focused on the Gulf region. The conference was organised by the Gulf Research Council and hosted by the University of Cambridge.

Dr Giannakopoulos was invited to attend a workshop under the theme “Towards a Global Coalition: Gulf Countries, BRICS+, and the Future of the Global Order”, where he co-presented a co-authored paper entitled “The Gulf Cooperation Council and its Member States: Emerging Inter-Regional Actors?”, together with Prof. Georgios Dimitropoulos (Hamad bin Khalifa University, Qatar). Under the conceptual frame of inter-regionalism, the paper seeks to map the different types of international economic relations into which the Gulf Cooperation Council and its Member States are engaged.
