The CIL Nuclear Law and Policy Team participated in the OECD NEA (Nuclear Energy Agency) WebChat with HE Michał Kurtyka, Poland’s Minister of Climate and 2018 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP24) President on 15 June 2020. The conversation was moderated by OECD NEA Director-General, William D Magwood, IV. Minister Kurtyka discussed the proposed Energy Policy of Poland until 2040 (EPP2040) where nuclear power will play a key role in ensuring energy security while helping Poland to achieve climate neutrality through the decarbonisation of the power sector. He also shared that challenges facing new nuclear build in Poland include financing, international technological cooperation and human resource development.
