15 March 2024: CIL Director Dr Nilüfer Oral was Invited to Speak at the Expert-Level Workshop on Addressing the Threats Posed by Sea Level Rise 

The Expert-Level Workshop on Addressing the Threats Posed by Sea Level Rise was meant for the UN Delegates and Staff to learn relevant background on an issue of significant concern for a growing number of Member States, including those most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, such as communities in Small Island Developing States and coastal states.

The substantive workshop brought together top experts and practitioners to share their knowledge and deep insights with representatives of Member States on particular aspects of the threats posed by sea level rise.

The four thematic sessions are as follows:

(10:00~10:45AM) Knowledge, Data and Science
(10:45~11:30AM) International Law & Law of the Sea
(11:30~12:15AM) Culture & Heritage
(12:15~01:00PM) Livelihoods & Socioeconomic Impacts 

This workshop took place in New York and was jointly organized by Mission of Costa Rica to the United Nations and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
