US-ASEAN Cyber Dialogue – Fostering Digital Cooperation Across the Pacific – Danielle Yeow

The Centre for International Law, together with Columbia University’s School of international and Public Affairs, and Nanyang Technological University’s S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSiS), jointly initiated the “US-ASEAN Cyber Dialogue – Fostering Digital Cooperation Across the Pacific” to discuss the future path for improving cooperation. This US-ASEAN Dialogue is invitation-only and brings together a focussed group of policy, business and academic thought leaders to share their perspectives, discuss and explore future paths for improving cyber and digital cooperation between the United States and South-East Asian countries as well as opportunities to collaborate such as in the areas of cyber norms and digital free trade.

The first session of the Dialogue, held on 22 Mar 2022, discussed the Biden administration’s cyber and digital policies and their impact on the ASEAN region and globally. Mr Chris Painter, President of The Global Forum on Cyber Expertise Foundation and Mr Sithuraj Ponraj, Visiting Senior Fellow, RSiS, delivered remarks from the US and ASEAN perspectives. This was followed by an interactive closed door discussion.

Danielle Yeow, Adjunct Senior Research Fellow and Lead, Climate Change Law and Policy, is a member of the Dialogue’s steering committee. For information on future sessions of the dialogue, pls contact Danielle at d.yeow@nus.edu.sg
