The Centre for International Law (CIL) will hold the second session of the Fireside Chat Series 2014 on ‘Whaling in the Antarctic (Australia v. Japan): International Law, Science and the Environment’ at 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Friday, 19 September 2014. The session will be hosted by Professor S. Jayakumar and Professor Tommy Koh. Panelists at the session will include Professor Robert Beckman Director, CIL; Professor Lye Lin-Heng, Director, Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law, Law Faculty, NUS; Professor Chou Lok Ming, Department of Biological Sciences and Professor Ryoko Nakano, Department of Japanese Studies. The session will examine the judgment of the International Court of Justice in the ‘Whaling in the Antarctic’ case and discuss the whaling issue from environmental, scientific and international political perspectives.
