CIL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the renowned Netherlands Institute for the Law of the Sea of Utrecht University (NILOS) effective from 1 April 2011. The MOU covers cooperation between the two institutions relating to the exchange of academic and research staff, training and capacity-building collaboration, co-organising of workshops and conferences, and the sharing of relevant research materials. Established in 1984, NILOS is a leading European hub of research and knowledge on the Law of the Sea and is a founding member of the acclaimed Rhodes Academy of Ocean Law and Policy which is convened annually on the Greek island of Rhodes.
