CIL is delighted to welcome Ms Anjali Sugadev as a Research Assistant. She will work with Prof Beckman and the Oceans Law and Policy team.
Anjali completed her Bachelor of Laws from Bangalore University, India. Her academic accomplishments include securing ten gold medals in her college for scholastic excellence. She was also accorded the Best Law Cottonian Award (2007-2012 Batch) for overall performance in curricular and extra-curricular activities. After her Bachelors, she practiced corporate and property law in a leading law firm in India for a year, where she was involved in title diligence in property matters, due diligence of companies and legal research.
Most recently, she pursued her Masters in International and Comparative Law in National University of Singapore (2014 – 2015). Her research paper on “Submarine Cable Issues in India – the Law and Practice” won the Rhodes Academy Submarine Cables Writing Award, an annual award sponsored by the International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC). She also attended the summer course on law of the sea at the 20th session of the Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law & Policy in July 2015.
Prior to joining CIL, Anjali worked as Student Research Assistant at CIL while completing her Masters at NUS. She has a profound interest in the law of the sea and public international law.
