The amendments to Article 8 are as follows:

  1. Replaced paragraph 6 with paragraph, “The Secretary-General of the United Nations shall provide the necessary staff and facilities for the effective performance of the functions of the Committee under the Convention.”
  2. Added a new paragraph, “The members of the Committee established under the present Convention shall, with the approval of the General Assembly, receive emoluments from United Nations resources on such terms and conditions as the General Assembly may decide.”
