Entry into Force / Termination Provisions	“Article 2: Entry Into Force This Protocol shall be subject to ratification, acceptance or approval by each Party in accordance with its applicable legal procedures. The instrument of ratification, acceptance or approval of a Party shall be deposited with the Depositary, who shall promptly notify all other Parties of each deposit. This Protocol shall enter into force 60 days after the date on which Australia, New Zealand and at least four ASEAN Member States have deposited their instruments of ratification, acceptance or approval. For each Party ratifying, accepting or approving the Protocol after the date on which Australia, New Zealand and at least four ASEAN Member States have deposited their instruments of ratification, acceptance or approval in accordance with Paragraph 2, this Protocol shall enter into force for that Party 60 days after the date of the deposit of its own instrument of ratification, acceptance or approval.”

According to a press releases from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (21 April 2025) and a circular from Singapore Customs (14 April 2025), the 21 April 2025 entry into force date applies for Australia, New Zealand, Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Lao PDR, which have ratified the AANZFTA Upgrade Protocol. Dates for Australia and New Zealand’s deposit of instruments of ratification were sourced from ASEAN Secretariat press releases. Dates for Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Lao PDR’s deposit of instruments of ratification are not publicly available as of the time of this update.
