CIL Investment Court Proposals Governmental Workshop

This was a by-invitation-only event.
Date: 19 January 2018
Venue: NUS Centre for International Law

On 19 January, the Centre for International Law (CIL) hosted a governmental workshop on investment court proposals. Researchers at CIL have been studying proposals for reform of the current system of investor-state arbitration, including proposals to establish investment treaty courts and appellate mechanisms for the past two years. Building upon that analysis, the goal of the workshop was to provide states with a framework for the legal analysis of such proposals and to give them an opportunity to discuss issues of common concern among Asian peer states. The workshop brought together officials from the governments of various South and South-East Asian states, who engaged in a rich discussion on these issues.
