Dr Jon Truby, UNESCO Chair on AI Law & Sustainability at the Centre for International Law (CIL), National University of Singapore (NUS), and Chair of the International Law Association (ILA) Committee on AI and Technology Law, will moderate the panel “From Fragmentation to Coherence: The Role of the International Law Association in Global AI Governance” at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2026.

The panel is organised by the ILA Committee on AI and Technology Law and supported by CIL, NUS. We are proud to support this important discussion on how international law can help bring greater coherence to global AI governance.

The session will examine the growing fragmentation of AI governance frameworks across international, regional, and national levels, including initiatives developed by the European Union, Council of Europe, UNESCO, OECD, national governments, and international standards bodies. It will consider how these frameworks can be better understood, implemented, and connected in practice.

The discussion will also present the work of the ILA Committee on AI and Technology Law, including its efforts to develop practical guidance, model laws, guidelines, and shared principles for responsible, rights-based, and internationally coherent AI governance.
