CIL Workshop on Academic Scholarship by Professor J H H Weiler
Introduction
This practical workshop, intended for scholars in the early stages of their career, has two principal purposes:
First, to offer guidance on research agenda setting and various research approaches and methodologies. It was designed to explore different potentialities for research and writing projects, and was not a methodological proficiency training exercise.
Second, to offer advice on career management: publication strategy in an increasingly quantitative environment, bibliometrics, conferences and workshops, tenure, promotion and mobility.
The following are three short pieces one may read as background.
- On My Way Out – Advice to Young Scholars I: Presenting a Paper in an International (and National) Conference
- On My Way Out – Advice to Young Scholars II: Career Strategy and the Publication Trap
- On My Way Out – Advice to Young Scholars III: Edited Books
