International Nuclear Law Essentials 2018
The National University of Singapore (NUS), through the Centre for International Law (CIL), is delighted to co-operate with the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to hold the seventh session of the International Nuclear Law Essentials (INLE) Course. This international nuclear law course is being held for the first time outside of France from 26 February to 2 March 2018. Professor Tommy Koh, Chairman of the CIL Governing Board, welcomed both faculty and participants at an evening reception held at the NUS Law School on the first day of the course. Over 30 participants from 15 countries including lawyers, policy makers, academics, researchers and other professionals working in the nuclear field have gathered to learn more about the legal issues related to the safe and secure use of nuclear energy. Lectures are delivered by renowned specialists from the NEA, the International Atomic Energy Agency, nuclear regulatory authorities and the private sector on topics related to nuclear safety, security, non-proliferation and liability. CIL, in partnership with the Energy Studies Institute (ESI), is carrying out research in the governance of nuclear safety, security and liability pursuant to a research grant from Singapore’s National Research Foundation, as part of the Singapore Government’s Nuclear Policy Research Programme. Further details on the INLE course can be found here.
