MFA-SCP Law of the Sea E-Training Course
25-29 September 2023
Sincere gratitude and appreciation go to our trainers and national delegates for a successful conclusion
of the E-Training Course on Law of the Sea 2023!
CIL successfully organized another Law of the Sea training course under the Singapore Cooperation Programme by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA-SCP), 25-29 September 2023.
This year there are 29 online participants from 24 countries, covering Africa (Angola, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Ghana, Mauritius, Rwanda), Asia (Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brunei, Iran, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka), the Caribbeans (Belize, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago), Europe (Georgia, Malta, Poland), the Pacific (Samoa) and South America (Guyana, Venezuela). Participants were government officials that came from diverse backgrounds related to ocean governance, including the legal profession, maritime administration, marine scientists, navy and hydrographic surveying. Through the week-long training, five trainers from CIL, Dr Nilüfer Oral, Emeritus Professor Robert Beckman, Dr Tara Davenport, Dr Youna Lyons and Ms Dita Liliansa lectured and led lively discussions on important topics under the law of the sea, where participants also contributed their practical insights.
This year’s training course received positive feedback from the participants: “Great job overall, I’ve been able to have enough information to point me in the right direction (of) moving forwards”, “It was a great experience, thank you for this opportunity!” and “Was a wonderful week! Was nice meeting all!” were expressed in participants’ testimonials.
This is the 11th training course that the CIL Oceans Law and Policy Team has organized under the auspices of the MFA-SCP since 2016.
