Maritime Boundary Delimitation Workshop

IBRU-2013

On 25-27 September 2013, the Centre for International Law (CIL) and the International Boundaries Research Unit (IBRU) of Durham University organised the third annual run of the International Maritime Boundary Delimitation Workshop in Singapore.

The 2013 Workshop featured trainers such as Mr John Brown, Law of the Sea Consultant, UK Hydrographic Office; Mr Rodman Bundy, Partner, Eversheds LLP; Professor Martin Pratt, Director of Research, International Boundaries Research Unit; Professor Clive Schofield, Director of Research, Australian Centre for Ocean Resource and Security (ANCORS), University of Wollongong; and Professor Robert Beckman, Director and Head of Ocean and Law Policy, CIL. Some 50 participants from the public sector, academia and industry attended the Workshop.

The Workshop combines lectures, discussions and practical exercises to help participants develop the skills needed to achieve an equitable division of maritime space and clearly defined maritime boundaries, taking into account the relevance of the presence of living resources to maritime boundary negotiations.
