Profile
Zoe Scanlon is a Senior Legal Adviser with the Australian Attorney-General’s Department, specialising in public international law. During this time, she has advised in several fields of public international law including of law of the sea, international fisheries law, international humanitarian law, human rights, international dispute resolution and international trade and investment law. Zoe has also worked as a Legal Consultant with the UN FAO based in Rome, and a Research Associate with CIL, where her research focused on law of the sea and environmental law. Zoe has taught public international law at the Australian National University. She is on the Editorial Committee of the Australian and New Zealand Society of International Law and is admitted to practice in the ACT Supreme Court of Australia.
Zoe holds an LLM (specialising in public international law) from the University of Sydney for which she was awarded the 2014 Nancy Gordon-Smith Postgraduate Prize for Most Proficient Candidate for LLM. Zoe also holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Melbourne and is a graduate of the Rhodes Academy, where she was awarded the Prize for Best Oral Exam Grade.
