AI, Satellite Technologies and Climate Sustainability

Dr Jon Truby’s published a summary of his conference presentation in AsianSIL Voices on the subject of AI, Satellite Technologies and Climate Sustainability.  He examines how AI and satellite data can support climate accountability following the UN Global Digital Compact and recent ITLOS and ICJ advisory opinions. He outlines how these developments shape due diligence and mitigation duties, and sets out practical implications for high-demand digital infrastructure, public procurement and regional collaboration in ASEAN. The paper reflects themes from Dr Truby’s presentation at the 10th Biennial Conference of the Asian Society of International Law, where he discussed evidence standards, reporting expectations and the role of geospatial tools in monitoring emissions and environmental harm.
