“AUKUS Two Years on: The View from Indonesia” by Dita Liliansa

CIL Research Fellow Dita Liliansa’s article titled “AUKUS Two Years on: The View from Indonesia” has been published by the Perth USAsia Centre (PUSAC) as part of the Indo-Pacific Defence and Security – AUKUS Series.

Her article delves into Indonesia’s perspectives on the trilateral security pact between Australia, United Kingdom, and United States (AUKUS). Her objective is to analyse what Indonesia sees as the key implications of AUKUS for the country and examine Indonesia’s responses thus far.

Concerns expressed by Indonesia include the potential for an arms race and increased tensions in the South China Sea. Additionally, Indonesia is worried about the deployment of AUKUS submarines through its chokepoints and the risks of nuclear accidents.
