A Special Issue of Climate Law on Alternative Fuels for Shipping Decarbonization, co-edited by Dr Beatriz Martinez Romera (Editor-in-Chief), Professor David Freestone (Chair of the Climate Law editorial board), and Dr. Tara Davenport (Co-Head of Ocean Law and Policy at CIL) was just published at here. This Special Issue examines the transition of shipping to alternative fuels and considers various issues such as the adoption of alternative fuels and its interactions with carbon pricing, the incentives and barriers for adoption, floating nuclear power plants and just transition. Nine contributions were made in this Special Issue, including two from the CIL Energy Law and Policy Team at CIL:
- Head of CIL Energy Law and Policy Denise Cheong and Research Fellow Nivedita S. co-authored an article titled 'Floating Nuclear Power Plants: Governing the Dicephalus Beast’ (see https://cil.nus.edu.sg/publication/floating-nuclear-power-plants-governing-the-dicephalus-beast/).
- Senior Research Fellow (CIL Energy Law and Policy) Mohammad Hazrati co-authored an article on 'Decarbonizing Shipping: Does the EU-ETS Ensure a Just Transition?' with Zeynab Malakouti (see https://cil.nus.edu.sg/publication/decarbonizing-shipping-does-the-eu-ets-ensure-a-just-transition/. The two articles are open access, supported by the Singapore Maritime Institute under the MPA-CIL Ocean Governance Research Programme.
