Workshop on International Maritime Crimes

On 17 and 18 January 2011, CIL organised a workshop on ‘International Maritime Crimes: Legal Issues and Prospects for Co-operation in ASEAN‘.The objective of the workshop was to examine whether ASEAN States can better combat serious maritime crimes (such as piracy, ship hijacking, and hostage-taking of crew), by ratifying and effectively implementing various relevant global and regional instruments.
This report covers the presentations, discussions, conclusions and recommendations of the workshop.
