Teaching and Researching International Law in Asia

NUS CIL-AfronomicsLaw Symposium on Teaching and Researching International Law: Global Perspectives

About

In collaboration with AfronomicsLaw, TRILA team organized a blog symposium which ran from 14 September to 2 October 2020 on the topic of ‘Teaching and Researching International Law – Global Perspectives’. The Symposium was anchored on the issues raised in the 2020 TRILA Project Report.

This Symposium is a unique combination of online event and research outputs. It brought together international law teachers, researchers and students from Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and Australia to reflect on common challenges and imagined futures of their profession. This gathering produced 33 essays offering various perspectives, such as case studies from countries or regions, reflections on institutional frameworks (whether national, regional or international), and some practical suggestions on what can be done to address contemporary challenges in teaching and research that academics in the Global South face and other innovations to counter Eurocentrism in international law.
