Dr Jon Truby attended (virtually) the Oxford Generative AI Summit 2025 held organised by the University of Oxford (October 16-17 2025).  The two-day programme featured keynotes, panel sessions, and discussions on themes including AI governance, trust frameworks, responsible innovation, intellectual property implications, and AI’s role in reshaping education and public policy.

The summit placed particular emphasis on how governments and academic institutions can collaborate to design ethical AI ecosystems through transparent policy tools and cross-sectoral dialogue. Speakers from leading universities and technology firms outlined how AI advancements are influencing law, economics and society at large. Topics such as AI for public good, accountability in AI deployment, and safeguards for AI use in education and research were discussed in depth.  Some of the many notable speakers included Matt Clifford CBE (Co-Founder of Entrepreneurs First), Professor Philippa Webb (Professor of Public International Law at the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford University), Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt (Professor of Computing Science, University of Oxford), Professor Lord Lionel Tarassenko CBE FREng FMedSci (Professor of Electrical Engineering, University of Oxford, and world-leading expert in the application of AI to healthcare), Euan Blair MBE (Founder and CEO of Multiverse), MP Kanishka Narayan (Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology), Professor Helen Margetts OBE FBA (Professor of Society and the Internet, Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford), Lord Clement-Jones CBE (Member of the House of Lords and advocate for digital policy and AI governance), Dr Jakob Mökander (Director of Science and Technology Policy, Tony Blair Institute for Global Change), Dr Robert Trager (Co-Director, Oxford Martin AI Governance Initiative, University of Oxford), Dr Anoush Margaryan (Professor of Learning and Technology, Copenhagen Business School), and Dr Dev Gangjee (Professor of Intellectual Property Law, University of Oxford).
