17 December 2025: CIL Director Dr Nilüfer Oral was Invited to Speak at the Regional Workshop on Advancing the Implementation of the BBNJ Agreement. 

Dr Oral participated online as a Guest Speaker at the workshop with the theme Challenges and Opportunities of BBNJ Area Management. The workshop brought together policymakers and technical experts from Southeast Asia to build shared technical and legal understanding on the implementation of the BBNJ Agreement, particularly under the Area-Based Management Tools (ABMT) pillar. Dr Oral spoke on the Challenges and Opportunities of BBNJ Area Management in the region.
