UNESCO Chair, Dr. Jon Truby , has been featured by UNESCO in a new conversation on AI law, sustainability and global governance.

In the interview, Dr Truby discusses how governments can use artificial intelligence while protecting the rule of law, public accountability and access to remedies. He also examines the environmental costs of AI, including energy consumption, water use, carbon emissions, infrastructure demands and electronic waste.

The conversation further considers the role of Asia and the Global South in shaping international AI norms, standards and governance frameworks.

Dr Truby also outlines the priorities of the UNESCO Chair on AI Law and Sustainability at the Centre for International Law at the National University of Singapore. These include policy research, open-access publications, conferences, research exchanges, the ASEAN Network Series and support for junior scholars across the region.
