2nd ASEAN Workshop on Implementing Best Practices for Submarine Cable Protection and Repairs 2

On 22 October, CIL Ocean Law and Policy Co-Head Dr. Tara Davenport presented the findings of our Landscape Study Report on the Law, Policy and Practices of ASEAN Member States on Submarine Cable Repair and Protection at the 2nd ASEAN Workshop on Implementing Best Practices for Submarine Cable Protection and Repairs, organized by IMDA and US-ABC.

For the workshop, CIL has prepared a Breakout Exercise for participants who are government officials from ASEAN Member States to seek their views on effective implementation of the Enhanced ASEAN Guidelines for Strengthening Resilience and Repair of Submarine Cables (Enhanced ASEAN Guidelines) and the recommendations of the draft CIL Report on the Law, Policy and Practices of ASEAN Member States on Submarine Cable Repair and Protection. Through the breakout discussion, participants were able to address the problems that arise in practice and the challenges faced by ASEAN Member States in implementing the recommendations, and what would make implementation possible.

The breakout exercise was facilitated with the help of Research Fellow Dr Su Wai Mon and Research Associate Chau Do (Carla).
