On 16-17 November 2022, Emeritus Professor Robert Beckman participated in the 14th South China Sea Conference organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, which was held at the International Conference Centre in Danang, Vietnam. The theme of the 14th Conference was “Peaceful Sea – Solid Recovery”. The speakers at the Conference were legal and foreign policy experts from Asia, Europe and North America.

Prof Beckman made a presentation in Session 6 on Rules of the Road for Non-Traditional and Cross-Cutting Domains. His presentation was on “Aviation Safety in the South China Sea”. Prof Beckman has participated in 13 of the 14 annual conferences organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam on the South China Sea.
