CIL Senior Research Fellow Vu Hai Dang took part in the 8th Meeting of the Sub-Committee on Navigation, Communication and Search and Rescue, which took place online from London, United Kingdom, 19 – 23 April 2021. About 287 delegates from States, international organisations and NGOs took part to the meeting. A range of issues was discussed, from amendments of SOLAS, to safety for Non-Convention vessels operating in Polar waters and Guidelines on places of refuge for ships in need of assistance. At the meeting, important progresses were made relating to the revision of chapters III and IV of SOLAS. The work on Non-Convention vessels operating in Polar waters and places of refuge for ships in need of assistance will be continued intersessionally at the Correspondence Group level.
