Dawoon Jung presented virtually at the Asian Society of International Law 2021 – 8th Biennial Conference on COVID-19 and International Shipping: Ship Inspections, Surveys and Certificates

This presentation examined to what extent flag States fulfil their obligations to ensure mandatory inspections and certifications during the COVID-19 pandemic and whether there remain gaps. In particular, it examined the responses of the international organisations on obligations of flag States during the COVID-19 pandemic, including non-binding instruments adopted by the IMO and ILO. It highlighted how classification societies contribute to developing guiding principles and best practices.
