CIL Director, Dr. Nilufer Oral and Research Fellow, Dr. Trung Nguyen speak at the 3rd Regional Maritime Security Symposium
CIL representatives were invited by the UK Government to speak on the law of the sea and maritime security at the 3rd Regional Maritime Security Symposium in Bali, Indonesia from 10 – 14 February 2025.
The Symposium takes place under the UK Southeast Asia Maritime Security Programme and brings together government officials, defence officials and academia from the UK and the South East Asia Region to discuss cooperation between the UK and South East Asia on maritime security issues.
At the Symposium, CIL Director, Dr. Nilufer Oral presented on the issue of Sea Level Rise and the UNCLOS and discussed the Advisory Opinion on Climate Change rendered by the ITLOS.
CIL Research Fellow, Dr. Trung Nguyen presented on the Environmental risk of the shadow fleet and led a discussion on What can coastal States do to address the issue.
