CIL Research Fellow Dita Liliansa, a member of the International Law Association (ILA) Committee on the Protection of People at Sea nominated by ILA Singapore, participated in the committee’s closed-door meeting held on 28 April 2025 at the Faculty of Law, Kramer Law Building, Middle Campus, University of Cape Town, South Africa. The meeting was followed by the conference “Rounding the Cape – Storms of Good Hope for the Law of the Sea,” held at the same venue from 28 to 30 April 2025. Featuring keynote speeches by Judge Thembile Joyini of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and Andrew P. M. Robinson of Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa, the conference served as a meaningful forum to explore African viewpoints on key ocean governance challenges, such as climate change and protection of people at sea.
