The Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) College of Law, in partnership with the International Law Association (ILA) GCC Branch, held a panel discussion on April 2026, titled "Safeguarding Gulf Cooperation Council Interests under International Law: Remedies, Resilience, and Recovery."

Dr Oral was invited to be the keynote speaker of the webinar to address the legal implications of threats to, or the blockage of, the Strait of Hormuz, including issues relating to transit passage, the obligations of States, and dispute resolution under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
