Eduardo Cavalcanti de Mello Filho awarded the V Daniel Vignes Prix by the Association Internationale de Droit de la Mer (AssIDMER)

CIL Research Associate Eduardo Cavalcanti de Mello Filho was awarded the V Daniel Vignes Prix by the Association Internationale de Droit de la Mer (AssIDMER).

Eduardo’s article that earned him the award was “Revisiting the Grotian Law of the Sea: From Mare Liberum to the BBNJ Agreement”, published in the Journal of Territorial and Maritime Studies, volume 12, issue 1, 2025. It is publicly available here.

The award took place during AssIDMer’s biennial conference in Procida, Italy, which took place on 11 and 12 September 2025. The conference had the theme “The sustainable management of fisheries and marine biodiversity”. It also awarded a special mention to Daniele Mandrioli for his article “L’Applicazione degli obblighi sul soccorso in mare rispetto alla navigazione a guida autonoma”, published in the Rivista Italiana di Diritto Internazionale, 2023.
