Joel Ong, CIL Research Assistant, spoke at the International Seminar on Maritime Cybersecurity: Formulating a Legal and Risk Management Framework in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 23 April 2024, organised by the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya and sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia and the Defence Cyber and Electromagnetic Division, Malaysian Armed Forces.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness of cyber threats in the maritime industry; identify the existing challenges in addressing cybersecurity challenges in the Malaysian maritime industry; and to learn from the best practices and provide viable solutions and recommendations in strengthening the legal and risk management framework to ensure maritime cyber resilience in Malaysia.
