On 26 March 2025, Dr. Jon Mark Truby attended the Roundtable on Maritime Cybersecurity and Critical Underwater Infrastructure as a roundtable participant. The event aimed to deepen regional understanding of maritime cybersecurity and the protection of critical underwater infrastructure amid rising geopolitical tensions and hybrid threats. The session featured presentations by cybersecurity and infrastructure experts from Singapore and the Netherlands. Topics addressed included the threat landscape in maritime cybersecurity, governance approaches to managing cyber risks, and regional cooperation mechanisms to enhance the protection of subsea infrastructure. The panel discussion explored strategic dependencies on foreign-owned submarine cable networks, emerging threats such as cyberattacks and state-sponsored sabotage, and international efforts to develop common security standards.
