CIL Research Fellow Liu Yulu attended the 5th Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Blue Carbon Hub Think Tank meeting on nature, biodiversity, and carbon markets for the sustainable management of coastal ecosystems, held in Phuket, Thailand, September 10-12, 2024. This meeting was co-organised by the IORA Indian Ocean Blue Carbon Hub and the Department of Marine and Coastal resources, Thailand, with the support from Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).

The meeting featured discussions about the current challenges and impediments to using market-based finance mechanisms to support the sustainable use of coastal ecosystems. It aimed to exchange existing knowledge and practices, explore options for financing actions, and develop recommendations that IORA and its member states can act on.
