Research Associate Dita Liliansa was invited by the Stockton Center for International Law, U.S. Naval War College, to speak in the 4th Annual Alexander C. Cushing International Law Conference: “International Law: Conflict at Sea” in Newport, Rhode Island, United States, May 16-18, 2022. She spoke in Session 6 on Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing alongside Prof. Natalie Klein (University of New South Wales) and Ms. Francesca Caonero (Global Maritime Crime Programme, Latin America and the Caribbean, U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime). Moderated by Lieutenant Commander Kay Lord Fallon (USCG, Military Assistant to the Secretary, U.S. Department of Homeland Security), the panel discussed, among others, new technologies, enforcement measures, and approaches to combat IUU fishing.
