Visiting Associate Professor Youna Lyons (PhD) was invited to give a Plenary Keynote Presentation at the 5^th Asia-Pacific Coral Reef Symposium week held in Singapore on 19-23 June 2023; it welcomed 800+ participants. It was the first time that the organising committee of APCRS invited an ocean law and policy expert.

The Keynote focused on the Law-Science to policy interface to protect coral reef systems and emphasised the respective role of science and law to inform policy-making by governments and the importance of underused provisions of international law to protect the marine environment including coral reef systems and associated species.
