CIL Fireside Chat Series: UNCLOS Compulsory Conciliation: The Timor-Leste v. Australia Maritime Boundary Dispute

The Centre for International Law (CIL) organised the 18th session of the Fireside Chat Series on International Law and Diplomacy on Friday, 10 February 2017. The hosts, Professor S Jayakumar and Professor Tommy Koh, and two guests, Professor Robert Beckman and Dr Hao Duy Phan, spoke about the conciliation between Timor-Leste and Australia under the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). The panellists examined the Decision on Competence of the Conciliation Commission and discussed the implications of the Timor-Leste v. Australia case for the use of future UNCLOS conciliation cases. CIL Fireside Chat Series are held under the Chatham House Rule and open to NUS, NTU and SMU students and staff, government officials, members of the Singapore Academy of Law, International Law Association (Singapore branch) and members of the diplomatic corps in Singapore.
