CIL Welcomes New Research Associate

Shaun KangCIL is delighted to welcome Shaun Kang as a Research Associate in the Centre’s Ocean Law and Policy and International Dispute Resolution research programmes. Shaun holds an LL.M. from the National University of Singapore (specialising in International and Comparative Law). He graduated with an LL.B. (Hons.) from the University of Reading. While completing his degree, he represented Malaysia in the LAWASIA Moot Competition. Subsequently, Shaun completed the Certificate in Legal Practice and was called as an Advocate & Solicitor in Malaysia. Prior to joining the Centre, Shaun trained at one of the largest law firms in Malaysia. There, he assisted senior lawyers in litigation cases. Shaun also worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Malaysia and was primarily involved in work relating to the protection of refugees. Most recently, he worked as counsel in the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), The Hague, where he provided administrative and legal support to the International Bureau.
